Q: How much does it cost to ship a vehicle?
A: We send quotes that are tailored to meet each individual customer’s needs. This means that the total cost of the shipment will vary depending on the specific details of your vehicle. This includes make, model, year and size. The condition of your vehicle is important as well is it operable? Location also is a factor, pick-up and delivery. Weather and other seasonal conditions may also impact the cost.
Q: What is considered and oversized vehicle?
A: Any vehicle that is larger than a standard sedan or crossover is considered oversized. Most full-size SUV’s fit into the oversized category.
Q: What type of transport will ship my vehicle?
A: The type of truck used in your shipment with depend on your budget and preference. The choices are Open or Enclosed transports.
Q: What is the least expensive way to ship my vehicle?
A: The least expensive way to ship your vehicle is in an open trailer with terminal to terminal service.
Q: What is the difference between Open and Closed Transport?
A: Open trailers are the most common form of vehicle transport, and the least expensive. However, your vehicle will also be exposed to rain, sun, dust and weather conditions. Enclosed trailers provide extra protection but is a bit more expensive.
Q: What is Top Load?
A: A normal auto shipping trailer has two decks. If you want, you can request to have your vehicle loaded on the top deck. In doing so it could prevent potential damage.
Q: What is the difference between Door to Door and Terminal to Terminal pick-up and/or delivery?
A: Terminal to Terminal is a chosen location where the driver can pick-up and/or deliver multiple vehicles which will be more budget friendly. Door to Door service the driver will pick-up and/or deliver at your front door at your convenience.
Q: Do I have to be at the pick-up or/and delivery location?
A: No, when setting up your order you can designate a representative for pickup and delivery for the driver. The contact must be at least 18 years of age. Both the pickup and delivery representatives are responsible for signing off on the Bill of Lading and inspecting your vehicle.
Q: Can I ship anything in my trunk?
A: All American auto shipping companies do not authorize personal belongings in the vehicle nor or these items covered by carrier insurance. If you choose to put items in your vehicle it is completely at your own risk. ABSOLUTELY NO firearms, hazardous materials, illegal substances or contraband may be placed in the vehicle. It is against the law for carriers to transport anything except your vehicle. The auto shipping truck is subject to inspection by the DOT and the Police in every state and can be fined up to $10,000 if found to be carrying just household goods. The car is subject to being impounded and all fines and expenses will be passed along to the owner of the car.
Q: Can I ship a car that has expired registration?
A: Yes, you can. Your vehicle does not need to have active registration or even a license plate. Since the car is on a carrier and not on the road, you do not need it registered.
Q: What do I do before shipping my vehicle?
A: Before shipping, we recommend inspecting your vehicle for any and all prior damages. These must be noted for insurance purposes. We always recommend taking photos.
Q: Will anyone drive my vehicle during transport?
A: The driver must drive your vehicle on and off the transport trailer. If someone must drive your vehicle due to government road regulations or residential restrictions, one of our professional partner drivers will contact you to acquire your authorization.
Q: Is my insurance or the driver’s insurance responsible for any damage?
A: Our partners insure your vehicle during transportation. This way, you can feel secure knowing your automobile is in safe hands.
Q: What if my vehicle is damaged?
A: We recommend all customers inspect their vehicle with the driver prior to any transportation. In the unlikely event of any damages, update the Bill of Lading/Vehicle Condition Report and take photos. Then, this will be submitted for repairs.
Q: What is the Bill of Landing?
A: A Bill of Landing (or BOL) is a legal document which contains important information about the shipment. The Bill of Landing will contain the year, make, model, automate, and condition of your vehicle. The Bill of Lading is the contract between the truck driver and the vehicle owner. Any and all damages to the vehicle must be reported on the Bill of Landing. The Bill of Landing is also the receipt of the transaction.
Q: What is a Condition Report?
A: The Condition Report is a part of the BOL. The Condition Report documents the condition your vehicle is in at the time the driver takes custody. The driver along with you or your representative will fill out The Condition report together. You or your representative will verify it is correct and along with the driver will sign it. Claims of damage will be determined based on this report from the point of pick-up to delivery.
Q: How do I prepare my vehicle for shipping?
A: Please make sure that the exterior of your vehicle is clean for the truck driver to properly inspect the vehicle for pre-existing damages and discrepancies. Remove any detachable accessories, lower or remove antenna, if possible. Confirm all fluids are full and there are no leaks. Only leave ¼ of a tank of fuel in the gas tank, so there is not added weight to the truck. Deactivate anti-theft devices.
Q: How do I know the date and time my vehicle will be picked up and/or delivered?
A: After a driver is dispatched to your order, you will receive a notification email that will include scheduling details and your driver's phone number and information. A customer care agent will also contact you to confirm the details of your auto shipment once a driver has been assigned.
Q: Can there be a guaranteed pick-up and/or delivery date or time?
A: The answer is yes. While at an additional cost, our partners offer expedited auto shipping services. It can be arranged that your vehicle arrives when you want it. Just speak to your customer care agent when making your arrangements.
Q: Can I change my shipping date?
A: Yes, if your driver has not been confirmed. You have an opportunity to change your first pick-up date.
Q: How long will it take to ship my car?
A: The delivery time depends on the distance being traveled and the weather and road conditions during the transport. Drivers usually allocate 400 miles a day for over the road travel.
Q: What is the process of shipping my vehicle?
